The Ultimate JDM & Euro Fusion: A90 GR Supra on BBS LM
When Toyota dropped the A90 GR Supra, it sparked an era of styling debates. But one thing every enthusiast agreed on was its incredible tuning potential and muscular, wide-hipped stance. While concave monoblock wheels are a common sight on the modern Supra, there is one legendary wheel that completely resets the car's presence: the BBS LM.
We recently had a spectacular Nurburgring Matte Grey GR Supra roll into the shop to receive a masterclass in aggressive, premium wheel fitment. The mission? Blending the Supra’s cutting-edge Japanese heritage with classic German motorsport engineering using a highly specific, staggered 19-inch BBS LM setup.
The Specs: Pushing the A90 Arches to the Limit
The GR Supra responds incredibly well to aggressive offsets, but the factory stance leaves a lot to be desired. To fill out the arches completely flush without sacrificing the car's razor-sharp handling dynamics, we opted for this heavy-hitting staggered configuration:
The Finish: Diamond Silver & Bright Black Diamond Cut
Nurburgring Matte Grey is a highly complex, satin-finish factory paint that absorbs light. To create the perfect contrast, the BBS LMs were configured with a Diamond Silver disk (face) paired with a Bright Black Diamond Cut rim (lip). The silver faces pop brilliantly against the matte paint, while the dark, polished steps of the diamond-cut lip tie back into the Supra’s glossy black exterior aero accents.
Performance First: Unleashing the B58 with a 305-Section Rear
This setup isn't just about turning heads at local meets. Anyone who has tuned the BMW-sourced B58 engine knows that even a simple downpipe and tune will immediately overwhelm the factory rear tyres.
By stepping up to a massive 11-inch wide rear wheel, we were able to shoehorn a steamroller 305/30/19 tyre under the rear guards.
Massive Traction: The 305-section rear tire provides the essential contact patch needed to put down serious power from a standstill and dig hard out of corners.
Balanced Steering Front: Up front, the 275/35/19 setup sharpens turn-in response and eliminates the factory understeer without causing any rubbing issues on inner liners at full steering lock.
Timeless 2-Piece Design Meets Modern Stance
The BBS LM is a timeless masterpiece. Its iconic mesh design has looked phenomenal on every performance car since the 1990s, and it brings a sophisticated, high-end "Euro-tuner" aesthetic to the A90 platform. Because this fitment uses a +25 front and +35 rear offset, the wheels sit dead-flush with the guards—giving the Supra that low, wide, menacing silhouette it should have had from the factory.
