The Ultimate Murdered-Out Look: E92 M3 on Matte Black TE37 Saga S-Plus

There is something inherently special about a black BMW E92 M3. As the only generation of M3 to ever receive a high-revving, naturally aspirated V8 from the factory, it holds a legendary status among purists. But while the 8,300 RPM S65 engine sounds like a Formula 1 car, the stock stance and wheel offsets leave a lot to be desired.

When a Jet Black E92 M3 rolled into the shop, we knew exactly how to elevate its presence. The goal was simple: an aggressive, track-ready stance with zero compromises on performance. The solution? A staggered 18-inch setup of the iconic RAYS Volk Racing TE37 Saga S-Plus in Matte Black.

The Spec Sheet: Dialing in the E92 Arch

The E92 M3 has massive factory wheel arches that can swallow aggressive wheel setups with ease. While many owners run square setups, a staggered configuration preserves the classic rear-wheel-drive dynamics while maximizing rear traction.

For this build, we opted for a perfectly dialed-in, flush fitment:

Front Wheels: 18 x 9.5 +20 (5x120)
Rear Wheels: 18 x 10.5 +35 (5x120)

An offset of +20 up front pushes the 9.5-inch wheel right to the edge of the guard, completely eliminating the tucked factory look and sharpening steering turn-in response.

Out back, the 10.5-inch +35 rear is an incredible sweet spot for the E92 chassis. It allows you to run a wide, meaty tyre—like a 285 or 295 section—filling out the rear quarter panels flawlessly without forcing you to roll the guards or run excessive, tyre-killing negative camber.

Gloss black paint paired with Matte Black TE37s creates an undeniably sinister, "murdered-out" aesthetic. The flat, light-absorbing finish of the Matte Black Saga S-Plus highlights the deep, aggressive concavity of the faces—especially on the 10.5-inch rears—giving the car a menacing, purposeful look whether it's parked or flying down the straight at a track day.

Performance First: The 18-Inch Advantage

Dropping down to an 18-inch wheel on the E92 M3 delivers genuine mechanical benefits over a 19-inch setup:

Rotational Mass Reduction: The TE37 Saga S-Plus is a forged monoblock, meaning it is incredibly light. Reducing unsprung weight at all four corners allows the high-revving S65 V8 to climb through the rev range even faster.
Meaty Sidewalls: An 18-inch setup allows for a taller tyre sidewall. This extra rubber absorbs harsh road imperfections on daily drives and offers a more progressive, communicative breakaway limit when you're pushing the chassis through high-speed corners.
